    Weigh in tomorrow

I always get a little worried before weigh in day.  I know I did great this week and so did Kevin.  I just hope the scale reflects our hard work tomorrow.  Til then, I'll keep my fingers crossed and think positive.  I'll let ya know how it goes!

Sunday night (and a little about my dog)

We made it through another weekend.  It was cold and miserable and the Packers lost.  Kevin and I didn't lose our focus.  We made good food choices and modified our workouts to include the bike, stair step, and Turbo Jam DVDs.  I never thought I would miss the treadmill as much as I do.  I love to walk and listen to my iPod.  It's my time to be in my own world and reflect on the day.  Besides, the Turbo Jam DVDs are kicking my ass!  But I suppose thats a good thing.  Plus, it keeps Kevin and I working out together, which is always fun.  All in all, a good (yet cold) weekend.

I was invited by The Carb Crushers to share pictures of my puppy on my space.  His name is Zeus and he is turning 6 months old on the 22nd.  We got him from the Cloquet, MN Friends of Animals Humane Society shelter when he was 6 weeks old.  He was actually born at the pound when his momma was given up before giving birth.  He had 6 brothers and one sister and they were all named after the seven dwarfs.  Zeus's real name was Sneezy but we changed it right away.  He is a fun loving puppy who gets along with everyone and every dog.

This is Zeus as our brand new 6 week old puppy.

Well, enough bragging about our dog.  Time to focus on the week ahead.  Hope everyone is doing well and keeping up the good work.  Keep your heads held high and your running shoes on.  Don't forget to drink your water!

    Saturday Morning

What a disgusting day.  We woke up to -10 degrees.   There will be no exercising outside today.  We usually get the dog out for his walks on weekends but even he doesn't want to be out there too long.  We did a really good 45 minute cardio jam dvd last night.  I'll probably do some biking today.  It's just one of those lazy, cold days. Gotta get motivated.  Except the couch is calling me...

    Another Day

Tomorrow is weigh day again.  I think I did really well this week.  In fact, better than last week.  It's hard to say which way the scales gonna go.  It's that time of the month and I feel bloated and blah.  I did good workouts and ate pretty darn well.  I will take anything thats not a gain tomorrow.
I had a chef salad for dinner in hopes that it will help with the weigh in and did 50 minutes on the bike during Biggest Loser.
Kevin did 30 minutes on the stair stepper (2500 steps...OUCH)
Well, it's off to sleep to dream of the pounds coming off!

    Dreaded Weekend

I haven't been on for a couple days and I must say, I feel a little lost.  Weekends get to be so busy that I lose all track of time.  So much to do, so little time.
Overall, I did pretty well this weekend.  The bridal show was at the convention center on Saturday so I did have a few bite size pieces of cake.  Hey, ya gotta know what you're getting your self into regarding your wedding cake.  I ended up putting a deposit down for one so that's one more item off the "to do" list.
My mom and I went out for lunch afterwards and I had the grilled salmon.  Yumm-o!  No breaded, deep fried shrimp for me.  Good choice!
I've been keeping up on my workouts, too.  I took Friday off as a much needed break.  Remember, don't do too much.  You'll burn yourself out.  Yesterday I walked the dog for 30 minutes and biked for 30 minutes.
Friday Kevin ran 7 1/2 miles on the treadmill.  c-r-a-z-y... He took a much needed break yesterday.  His food intake is not as strict as mine as he wants to gain muscle and not lose too much weight.  I'd say he needs the extra calories if he's going to run 5-7 miles everyday.
Well, I gave in and stepped on the scale on Saturday.  I HAD to know what was going on.  But it is hidden again and no weighing till Wednesday.  Promise.
I'm off to do a workout of some sort.  Keep up the great work everyone.  I'm so proud of all of us.

    Scale Slave

I am a slave to the scale.  It has become my best friend and my worst enemy.  The scale calls to me:  "Patricia - step on me.  Did you lose an ounce?  Gain a pound?  Are you heavier before or after you take a shower?  You know you want to weigh yourself before bed.  You know you'll be lighter in the morning."  I'm obsessed.  I might ask Kevin to put it in the garage rafters til official Wednesday weigh-in.  Is anyone else this obsessive-compulsive or is it just me?  I should jump on it right now just for good measure.  (Just kidding)
Anywho, back to the old weekly routine.  Today went well.  Everyone in the Biggest Loser Club at work is bringing their lunches to work instead of the daily run for fast food.  Work has always been the hardest but with everyone on a diet, we all support eachother.  Its working out great.
Today I did 50 minutes on the bike and Kevin ran 5 miles PLUS did his weight routine.  I'm so proud of him.
I can't wait for Biggest Loser tomorrow.  It ties in perfectly with my own "last chance workout" before Wednesday weigh-in.
Everyone keep up the great work.  My a$$ fits in my chair better already!

    Weekend Survivors

We made it to the end of the weekend.  I couldn't be happier on our success.
It's amazing to me that it seems so easy this time.  My mind set it totally different this time and the support of all these wonderful people is so motivating.  Plus, kevin knows that I REALLY want this.  I don't want to be a fat bride and he doesn't want to be a flabby groom.
    Todays food diary:

    Patricia
Breakfast: Yogurt and a 90 calorie granola bar
Lunch:  4oz pot roast with potatoes and carrots
Dinner:  small salad with fat free dressing, one slice of garlic bread pizza

    Kevin
Breakfast: Cinnamon Life cereal with skim milk
Lunch: Spaghetti and small bowl of ice cream
Dinner: One slice of garlic bread pizza and a PB and J sandwich

As for our exercise today, we went for a 20 minute walk with the dog together.  Kevin did 30 minutes on the bike and I did 45 minutes (2.75 miles) on the treadmill.

I'm happy to be going back to the weekly routine tomorrow.  Plus, weigh in day as Wednesday and I feel like I'm going to like what I see.

Congrats to all of us who are taking this step towards a healthy new lifestyle.  It sucks to be fat and it's humiliating to put up such gruesome pictures for all the world to see.  But we are going to see those pounds come off and we're gonna be a bunch of Smokin' Hot Babes in no time!

    TGIF

    It's finally Friday!
This is usually the make or break point of any diet and exercise program we've started in the past.  Weekends are always the toughest to get through.  Outta the normal routine, easier to make bad food and exercise decisions.
We went out for dinner tonight at a local diner and we did very well.  I had diet soda, fat free dressing on my salad, small steak sandwich (no bun), and well more than half the amount of fries I normally would eat.  Kevin had a burger and half his fries also.  Overall, we made pretty good food decisions.
We got home and played a heated game of Nintendo Wii.  (Of which I suck at.)  Then I hopped on the treadmill for 35 minutes, 2.1 miles and Kevin did his long weights workout.  I'd say a good start to the weekend.
I'll keep ya posted on how the rest of the weekend pans out.

    After the Show

Well, our "before" photos have been uploaded.  It isn't a pretty sight.
    It all downhill from here.
Good news is, we start the Biggest Loser Club at work tomorrow.  Seven coworkers and some of their spouses
are putting together our own club to lose weight.  Our first weigh in is Jan 2.  Oh the humanity of having to weigh-in
in front of a group of people.
My goal is to run the Grandma's Half Marathon in June.  I hope I'm up for the challenge.
I can't wait to keep you up on all the goings on over the next few months.
Kevin can't wait to lose a few and pump up.  He's hoping for the six pack abs from high school.
We will try to update our pics on a weekly or every other week schedule.
